Development

Desktop software for when the browser is not enough.

We build installable apps for teams that work with heavy files, unreliable connections, or hardware plugged into the machine.

When it fits

The exceptions that justify installing software.

Almost anything can be a web app today, and it usually should be. These are the exceptions:

  • Work has to continue without an internet connection.
  • The app needs to talk to printers, scanners, scales, or other local hardware.
  • You process large files that make no sense to upload to a server.
  • There is a legacy desktop app that nobody can maintain anymore.
  • Your team spends the whole day in the same tool and needs instant response.

What it includes

Desktop, online or offline.

  • Platform assessment

Before proposing desktop, we confirm that a web app would not solve the same problem with less maintenance.

  • Installable application

An interface built for heavy daily use, with shortcuts, batch work, and support for the operating systems your team runs.

  • Offline work and sync

Data is stored locally and synced with the central system when a connection is available, with clear rules for conflicts.

  • Local hardware and file integration

Communication with connected devices and network folders, as the process requires.

  • Installation and updates

Installers and an update mechanism that does not depend on someone visiting every machine.

How we work

The platform decision comes first.

  1. Assessment

How work gets done today, on which machines, and with what network or hardware constraints.

  2. Platform decision

Desktop, web, or a mix, with the reasoning in writing.

  3. Prototype

The core flows tested by the people who will use them every day.

  4. Build

Incremental installable releases, tested on machines like yours.

  5. Rollout

Installation, training, and hands-on support for the first few weeks.

What you get

Installable software that is easy to update.

  • An installable app for the agreed operating systems.
  • An update mechanism and an installation guide for your IT team.
  • Source code in a repository your company controls.
  • Documentation for sync, integrations, and configuration.
  • A user guide for the team that runs the app.

FAQ

What people usually ask us.

Wouldn’t a web app be better?

Often, yes, and if that is your case we will say so. We recommend desktop only when offline work, local hardware, or data volume justify it.

Can you replace a legacy desktop app?

Yes. First we document what it really does, including the rules nobody wrote down, and then plan the replacement without stopping operations.

What happens to data when there is no connection?

It is saved on the machine and synced when the connection returns. What happens when two people change the same record is decided in design, not discovered in production.
